Any one have a recipe for Tipsy Tart as mine has gone awol!!!

Hi Pam got this one.....maybe someone has another one as there are different ways of making it...I got this one from a South African friend
TIPSY TART
Tart Ingredients:
* 125 ml Chopped dates
* 5 ml bicarbonate of soda
* 125 ml sugar
* 180 ml flour
* 1 egg
* 125 ml boiling water
* 12,5 ml butter
* 40 ml chopped pecan nuts
* 10 ml baking powder
* pinch of salt
Tart Method:
1. Combine dates, bicarbonate of soda and boiling water and leave to cool.
2. Cream butter and sugar, add egg and mix well.
3. Sift dry ingredients and fold into creamed mixture.
4. Stir in the nuts and then the date mixture.
5. Spoon into a large buttered dish (or spray with " spray and cook") and bake at 180 degrees C. for 30 minutes
Syrup Ingredients:
* 180 ml Sugar
* 2 ml vanilla
* 30 ml brandy
* 120 ml Water
* 6 ml Butter
Syrup Method:
1. Cook sugar, butter and water together for 5 minutes.
2. Remove from heat and add vanilla essence and brandy.
3. Stir to mix.
Final Combination Method:
1. Pour the hot syrup over the hot tart which has been well pricked.
2. Serve hot or cold with cream or ice-cream.

More brandy ... its almost a teetotal tart ,,, I remember Mrs Ahrens ,,, christmas cakes baked and iced well in advance .. then holes made in the icing and brandy poured in at regular intervals ... result ,, cake rich and boozy ...
