I know that over in the UK there are some high temps this week..... but bear in mind that it is the middle of your summer..... meanwhile back down here in Africa it is winter, the middle of winter......AND .... I sit here in Oranjemund 15h40 on a monday Afternoon, shorts and t shirt....... 30 degrees, the east wind is fading into the late afternoon, the winter leaves fall from my oak tree as she sheds her coat for yet another year...... and the fire has just been lit for supper tonight..... beer in hand, I know in about 1 hour I will be smelling all the fires being lit at all the neighbours homes as they return from the mine and decide that this Monday evening would be the perfect winters day for a warm Oranjemund braai......
Hot(1) woo_hoo
Don't you just love winter in Africa.....
Of course Mike
East wind days in winter were always the warmest days, i remember long spells of heat in winter, i loved it to an extend. We also have warm weather at the moment, i hope it lasts the whole summer, but ??? ......
Our east wind is caused when it snows on the eastern escarpment , the drakensberg..... what tickles me.... is the odd days when it is bitterly cold down the road in Cape Town.... and 700km to the North in dear old Oranjemund, it is 30 degrees plus......
this usually effects the entire Namib Coastline..... right up to Henties Bay....
