There I was , huddled in front of my PC at work, trying to download something trivial when ex Oranjemunder, Frans Ndromo , and now current CEO of Telecom Namibia walked in....... It was great to see him and to extend my heartfelt thanks for introducing the uncapped limit on all fixed ADSL lines in Namibia....... One gets the impression that Telecom Namibia is streets ahead of their SA counterparts....

Great news that prices are coming down and access is getting easier. Long overdue but it is excellent that Namibia seems to be leading the charge in Africa.
Any idea why 3g is still capped and so much more expensive? The 3g is now being monitored (it wasn't until now) and anything over 550mb is charged at 50c a meg. image031
Seems expensive when compared with the fixed line ADSL when the cell phone network is already in place and the volumes of subscribers are there.
I think it has something to do with the capacity that the fixed lines can carry, on a friday evenings in Oranjemund the cellphone network often gets overloaded and one cannot make calls on a cellphone..... Just a theory..... perhaps once the cellphone network has been expanded or upgraded things might change.....
That makes sense, sadly for those of us on 3g. I must say that the 3g speeds are excellent and the service is very good but I'm just a little jealous of the uncapped ADSL subscribers.
Did a Firefox update - 50 mb so 550mb is getting less and less since updates of various programs are becoming more commonly done online. I'm too scared to do the Java update my computer keeps nagging me about - it is nearly 100mb.
Rather look at it in this way Sean.......A half decent ASDL connection will cost you $549......you pay $289.
So you only start losing out after 1100 mb...
