Do you know this town, and if so what area?
I will reveal the details later, want to see some response from all of you out there... don't be shy, I was surprised when I looked at the pic after downloading it.
Alf, hang back a bit...
A Nice pic..... different view...... things look compressed.....
I agree with you Mike A, very compressed and very well done. A good photo of Town Garage in the middle
idontknow image21
Looks like the bend comming into town, then 1st Ave town garage, all those trees possibly to the right of that bend. Remember resovours (sp) being there'ish.
Seems like more than one photo put to-gether.
OK so thats my guess.
Yep, I agree and might say a collage of photo's put together. One can even see a horizontal straight line at the top of the dump going from left to right
A few distinctive landmarks observed...
It's 1 photo that's cropped top and bottom to exclude unnecessary kb's; besides, nothing but sky and a few bushes that were chopped. No forced distortion, collaging or photoshop tricks used.
Was this taken on a hot and barmy east wind day..............??????. If so, it could explain the effects of so called distortion
Taken on a pleasant morning, about 19° outside.
The secret is the distance from which the pic was taken, zoomed in all I could... and remember some quality was lost during the downsizing process.
I recon it was taken from swartkops hill but in all honestyu you would need a massiv lens or a really decent camera to zoom in that far
I also seem to think I see the road to the mine. Perhaps intended to be as the crow flew from the entrance to town ,along 1st, then onto the mine road.
Come on now Andrew put me out of my missery...or should I phone Alfred for the correct answer.
Taken from the top of the crystal quarry as one entered town ,,,
Thats kinda sort off where I mean.
Me again....this is bugging me. Just remembered that road on the other side of the first Ave tree's there where Jowels used to be. Taken towards the mine so I guess from the entrance to town. Must be height so from a dune or something.
I officially give up after this.
Look at the reservoir on the right hand side. There is a scrap stealth F117 outside. Painted green. Its a give away.. holiday camp in California....
Hello1
Hi Everyone,,,,, I say it is definatley road past gun club ,town garage and petrol station as you can see the Shell sign,it makes a bend to the right and t junction stop .left to mine and right to town. Not bad as I left omund in 1986.
Behind the reserviors on the desert side.
thats what i said chris.....SO WE RIGHT THEN
Huh! We're getting some good responses here.
Ok Diana, you asked for mercy (ironic, that tune's playing on the radio)... I'll put you out of your misery... and the answer is...
Industrial Road and 1st Avenue from the top of the BIG dunes zoomed in real close with a Canon Powershot SX110is @ 10X optical zoom... I was surprised at how much detail could be made out, thus the topic... thought it would be something different.
Enjoyed fathoming that out.........now for the next one. are-you-there
