I heard from two sources today, that the mine intends to recruit quite a substantial number of people for all the various projects and to fill in a few vacancy, I heard that this number might be quite large....
Sources: 2 housewifes and one Unionist (Reliability factor: 33%)
Have you heard any rumblings?
On the other hand , two other sources stated today at the Dairy Fridge, that in all likelyhood, it was nonsense as the mine still had a surplus workforce.......

We've been waiting for some time now to hear about former FTC's that worked for us that we wanted back to fill vacancies in our team, but that's been put on hold for now.
Apparently there are some of E-Bay's work force that have to be redeployed in the rest of the mine while they are down for some time...
Interesting times... If these guys fall into our team... means back to teaching them the job that took us over a year to get right with the FTC's we had. Explains why we want them back, more productive in times of "double the work half the workforce"...!!!
A friend of mine, in the more senior rankings of the company was bitching to me yesterday, how he now had to do the work of 3 employees for the same salary, not even a bonus or a thank you........
He is very depressed and is trying to find alternative work......
With the same company Mike???
Nope , out of the company...... funny thing, without mentioning any names in here, John, you actually know this chap.....
Spoiled bunch that we are, methinks certain people just got too comfortable when we were so heavily overstaffed and now that they are expected to actually do a full days work its become a problem for them. Without fail every single one of my guys who have gone out to do 'equivilent' work in the real world have all complained about how much more they have to do out there and about how you work all day every day. Its time to earn your keep people, now that the company has streamline the slackers have nowhere to hide and are being show up!!!! :tifo1:
True words Paul .. in my days on the mines we had many slackers .. had so much time on their hands that they would assemble their weekend work project during the week to the extent that it ony required 2 hours work on the sunday and be paid for the 8 hrs worth at double time ..so they could idle all fine and dandy if they could apply the clever planning to their week work as well .. think of how much money would not have been wasted ,,,
On the inverse i just had a sesion with our factory manager today .. told him that when our workshop manager comes back from sick leave to instruct him to hire another fitter ... cos he got " clever" and pared his staff down to look good .. but its now to our detriment ... one on leave .. one sick .. him now sick and we hobbled .. sorry to say it , but whenI worked on 4 plant .. our bonus and increase was determined by how much you decreased your section breakdown rate ... IOW you had to be continually doing preventative maintenance looking for problem areas .. I just recently got rodgered with a R 56000 rand bill compliments of my colleague who seemed to think that DC and AC commutator motors only require 3 - 4 monthly inspections whereas my opinion was every month .. well the chickens all came home to roost .. only prob is I'm saddled with the bill .. still puushing to get it put on his bill serve him right ..My comment to my boss was .. " one cannot maintain enough .. we have expensive machinery and any failure costs not only in repair cost but producive time loss .. when is somebody going to switch on the lights ??
The gossip on the floor today... is that the demand for diamonds has picked up, but the mine is battling to produce.... the stuff.......
I wonder why...?
secret(1)
We can't sell what we are producing. There is alot of stock but not alot of buyers and the strength of the dollar is also against us. Lets hope it will pick up shortly
Heard the Russians were flooding the market with good quality stones......
msn emoticon (68)
And the Aussies they grow them
We were told that demand for diamonds in China and India was good and we need to get our production up.
Wonder whats going on....... trex-073
Thats a good point that Alfred raised, are the manufactured diamonds having an impact on the market?
Perhaps the Russians can mine the things cheaper than we can, perhaps they have no policies in place forcing their companies to employ below par workers......
