You old timers remember the days when your class at OPS would go on a school tour to the mine, see where daddy worked, how the diamonds are mined, where the machines got repaired, the plants and even have lunch at Uubvlei mess..... Yep! Them were the days , when you as a kid knew why your town was here.....
Shannon and the resat of her class are going on a school tour to neighbouring Rosh Pinah to visit the Skorpion Zinc Mine, it seems like they still do mine tours unlike this mine...... Sad day when we have to go "next door" to see what a mine looks like....
Perhaps if there had been less manouvers going on in the communications dept at the mine, there would still have been mine tours......
heard of quite a few folk in "positions" trying to get into the mine tour business, one can only wonders what happened to the days when we had conflict of interests....
Guess ol' Derek Ericson would shudder if he knew what was going on these days!
