Title: SCAMS AND OTHERS
Post by: toonfandangl on October 28, 2009, 05:12:05 PM
                          MIRROR OR 2-WAY GLASS??

Can you tell when you are in a hotel room, restroom, motel etc. with a
mirror whether it is in fact a mirror or 2-way glass?

Here's how:

I thought it was quite interesting! And I know in about 30 seconds you're
going do what I did and find the nearest mirror... Do you know how to
determine if a mirror is 2-way or not?  This is not to scare you, but to
make you aware.

A policewoman who travels all over the U.S. and gives seminars and
techniques for businesswomen passed this on. When we visit toilets,
bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc., how many of you know for sure
that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or
actually a 2-way mirror (i.e., they can see you, but you can't see them)?
There have been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors in female
changing rooms. It is very difficult to positively identify the surface by
just looking at it.
So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty what type of mirror we
are looking at? Just conduct this simple:

Test:  Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and
if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then it
is a GENUINE mirror.  However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image
of your nail, then BEWARE, THAT, IT IS A "2-WAY" MIRROR!

"No Space - Leave the Place" So remember, every time you see a Mirror, do
the "fingernail test." It doesn't cost you anything.
Up-out
Remember: "No Space, Leave the Place"

Ladies: Share this with your girlfriends, sisters, daughters, etc.

Men: Share this with your wives, daughters, daughters-in-law, mothers,
girlfriends and friends.

I got one of those.......
next to my front door....can see out but not in. If I wait long enough to answer the door my visitors end up checking out their teeth or fluffing their hair or digging boogers out their nose.
NOW back to the topic.

Mike,
There's an Irish firm (Irish Two-Way Mirrors) supplies them. Look them up on Google. Or you can make your own quite easily the way they do - just glue two mirrors back to back. I've got one at home, works beautifully.......

Bob !!! is that the same Irish company that won the contract to build the channel tunnel, Patrich and Michael Inc. they each had an end to start from and it was pointed out by Michael that they could miss each other in the middle.

Patrich was flipped about his reply saying well the cheapskates will get two tunnels for the price of one..........................................

'Fraid not. It was Secure Subs, another company altogether. They used to build submarines for the Irish navy but lost the contract when the navy found they could enter any submarine by sending down a diver to knock on the conning tower.
I must add that they didn't lose the contract immediately. They were given three months to come back with a modification that would stop such entry.
The contract was finally awarded to the Sub Zero (the firm which built the Titanic) after Secure Subs came back with a new design in which all entry ports to the submersion pumps were blocked off. This, as they pointed out, protected the submarine from divers by ensuring it could never be submerged.

Give credit were its due Bob!! the Irish are very inventive people they see a problem and eliminate it, like the two Irish football fans sitting in the stadium and the crowd were displeased with the  referees decision and started pelting bottles on the field.
One of the fans stated ducking and weaving in his seat (as they were near the front) and his friend said "don't worry Pat" I believe it has got to have your name on it!!  (Like the war story's and the bullet with your name on it), and Pat replied that's the trouble my name is Guinness ................................................................................. PS hope Rhona is not watching this post.

Personally I would drink milk.................Paddy patrol around here ??? ...'hey' this is America!! there are lots of Irish here!! I am being aware .... image203.... image04

Toonfandang, interesting that you mentioned that. The calcium thing.
I also read an article saying that parents should try not to freak out to much when kids do that, cause that way they also build their immunity system (not sure if this is the correct word).  Apparently some of the bacteria / germs on the boogers helps with this.
I am just glad only read that after my kids were fully grown.

Stephanie, I think with all the crap that's fed to our children (well not my children) today.........from the fast food industry  their immunity system is not in the best shape.

There is another worrying factor and that is all these hand wipes, and antibacterial sprays they are pushing onto the market.

I believe wash your hands is a normal function (use the toilet 'etc') but if we do what  the marketing people want us to do (use their products) whats happening to the younger generation.

I mentioned this in an earlier post, The Swine Flu epidemic did not seem to infect people that were born in the Fortes and Fifties because we  already have the anti bodies................................We got Dirty.......................Frank

Too true  the " dettol brigade "  is nothing but a  commercially driven  thing .. and yes it does  shield  folk too much  from everyday germs  and an immune system that  does not get regularly challenged and learn to fight becomes a weak one .. as kids we played in  mud etc and  are today all hale and healthy ,, the  dreaded flu  tried  to get its claws into me  so many times this  season ,, all my colleagues  went down .. me  whenever i felt the telltale  symptoms  just slowed down , would go home early and  go sweat it out .. so afr untouched  John told me a story of  an  expat   woman in the Sudan  who was  fastidiously clean  , any veg or fruit were first soaked in  milton solution  before  being  consumed etc etc ... compared to most folk giving  fresh fruit or veg a cursory rinse   with fresh water ..  she died  of bad  dysentry more than likely   due to the fact that  she lost all the active  good bugs in her gut ... The dettol brigade also tell us that we " stink ' and that we need to use their soap to kill of  odour causing germs ,, now the skin is an organisim  that  also helps protect the body ,, strip it of its good bacteria  and yes  you not  protected with  the magical mantle that the advert shows .. I  personally do  not  use  soap on my body , bath  twice a day sometimes mostly with a bit of salt  in the water  or  a bit of vinegar ,, its a natural exfoliator and  mild natural deodorant , the only " soap " used is shampoo and condtioner  for the hair , cannot abide greasy hair ... the body takes care of itself if you allow it to .. nobody  has ever said I  smell strange .. in fact the minimum of cologne  just adds  freshness .. so yes my big thumbs down to the  " dettol brigade "

Vinegar is an acidic liquid processed from the fermentation of ethanol in a process that yields its key ingredient, acetic acid. It also may come in a diluted form. The acetic acid concentration typically ranges from 4 to 8 percent by volume for table vinegar[1] (typically 5%) and higher concentrations for pickling (up to 18%). Natural vinegars also contain small amounts of tartaric acid, citric acid, and other acids. Vinegar has been used since ancient times and is an important element in European, Asian, and other cuisines.

There you go !! I got this from Wikipedia........I just thought it was for fish and chips.... image04
