Whilst driving to the beach in the pounding sandstorm yesterday, we chanced apon a group of flightless birds...... I have lived here for almost 40 years and have never seen so many ostriches in one place....... you usually get them in groups of 3 or 4..... Michele counted as far as 45 of them...... I can only assume the sandstorm drove them out of the sands or they were hosting the Annual Ostrich Open at the Golf COurse....

No wonder I haven't seen any flying over me house. Can't start drinking till the ostrich flies by.
There were gazillions in January too. Mrs took pics of them near the riding club, had to wait for them to cross the tar road.
Hello .. Oranjemund is an oasis and yes the " wildlife" as in the Gemsbock and jackal that now casually stroll around.. the ostrich getting to the gist of it .. tookmlonger cos they got smaller brains .. catmusic

Be careful, I've seen their droppings - if they fly over.... instead of leaving a smudge they will take the whole windscreen out!!!
