Hello to all "old Oranjemunders", here is a message from Austria, namely Charles Loeffler.
I was living in Oranjemund from 1974 to 1979 and working as an instrument Engeneer at No.4 Plant.
When i recieved the link to this Pages from George Ruf i spend quite some time, not to say hours browsing through the different pages an have felt quite some emotions as memories floodded my mind. Memories of sailing at the Pink Pan, trapshooting at the shooting range, playing at the local theatre (Oh what a lovely war), showing and viewing films and slides at the local photoclub an of course talking and trinking with a lot of people at the local pub or at the many social events which CDM used to offer its residents.
Maybe some people remember the "disco nights" we used to organise (i was the DJ) which is just another thing that comes to mind thinking about Oranjemund.
Anyway, i like to express my thanks to all who took part in creating this HP, i'm looking forward to see and read lots of old stories, maybe i will post one myself sometime.
Kind regards to everybody from good old Austria.
Charles Loeffler

HI Charles .. what about the water polo club that sort of got going ? If my memory serves me correct you were involved in that as well .. or is it a case of mistaken identity ?
Hello Sandy (Sandy who?),
thanks for reminding me but you are right. Waterpolo was one of my first activities when i came to Oranjemund.
But if i remember correctly, interests was rather low thats why we gave it up again.
Quite right .. interest was low . I used to arrive at practice with Peter Reschke ... I was the smallest in the whole practice team . You always used to tell me to get out of the water when I went blue around the mouth from the cold ..
Hi Sandy,
now that you mention it, some memories come back, but somehow that old brain seems to function not to good anymore. motorbike
Having just seen a documentation about NAMDEB on German TV - what a difference. Somehow it looks a little rundown and on the other side quite "modern" again.
Nevertheless - memories, memories, .....
Greetings form Vienna
Charles
Hi Charles.
Great to hear you're doing well. Hope to hear from you on the sit.
It's been more than 20 years since we last met.
