It may have been posted previously... What is the history or significasne behind the seven sisters, how did they come to be and who decided or how was the name decided?
Why don't we put up a sign at the spot so that newbies can identify with the spot's correct name and not "... meet you at the stones near Eastgate..."
History channel...???

As all the tales of the last 5 years churn around my head, I vaguely remember us knowing the story of the 7 sisters rocks on the road heading east out of town,

Local longtime resident Martin James rekindled my interest in the stones with the following email and picture...

"I see on the omdonline site there is some talk about the 7 sisters,
Did you ever manage to find out more info on the topic as I also would like to know
Here is a data that is written on the cement, taken over the weekend"

Anyone care to add?

Update on the topic from an longtime resident still residing in the town...

"Mr Hans Kuhnel   a german gentleman/ plumbershop foreman brought the stones from  the desert in 1972    and placed it where is is today and created the garden.
The plumbers  also planted the trees in the desert next to the water line running to Swartkops for the gemsbok  to drink - "

Thanks Patricia for the picture . rocks on the lawn- oposite the old police station , corner of outer crecent and 5th ave . next to the front gate of the police station was a little wooden police van , mounted on a pole . at the rear of this van , was a propeller that drove the crank on the front of the van . In front was a policeman with his hands on the crank. and as the wind turned the shaft , so the policeman cranks the " engine '
