how many of you had a tree House.
We had one when we lived in 2nd ave. The best one was in 1st ave bushes above the rope swing outside the feilds house.
I would love to know who the hell climbed up there with the wood , hammer and nails???? :P
Ha! good one Claire, just when I thought we had covered all the bases on the forum..... We had a tree house at E7-1st ave in one of those tall pines... kinda like a platform supported by poles... When the folks were having a braai it was a great place to play with a view of the braai area.....When I look back on those years of climbing on the house and garage roofs and the height of some of the tree houses , I;m surprised nobody broke there neck..........
;)
Mike I remember you had a small treehouse in your garden at the back of the house.....
Noooooo! It was a massive treehouse, state of the art construction for that time in the 70's .... well.... Er! it seemed like it back then.....
I walked past E7-1st ave with my kids the other day, trying to explain to them about the tree and the house....... Suddenly I felt like my Dad, when he took me on a tour of Glasgow as a kid.......
The new inhabitants of our house, cut down the old Oak tree, ripped up all the grass and planted Mielies...... Yes! mielies!....... ???
we had a tree house that felt high and huge but visiting it in later years it was head height and really titchy, all in the eye of the beholder. The new kitten did fall out of the above mentioned tree structure and not walk for 2 days, panic and trouble ohhhh yea made a full recovery and any tabby cats in town in the east area will be related to that cat as he was the father of all strays born in the security area for a decade.
we will have to come up with a plan to get rid of those milies.........revenge for cutting down your "wee" tree house....
Barbara, we had some stray Tabby's wandering the streets down in 1st avenue in those days and a dog that thought it was a cat, walking along the top of fences.....
Shazz, that treehoose wisnae wee, it was a castle on Mondays, a ship on Tuesdays and on friday you could fly to the moon in it! :o
Yeah, if you were pissed.......hee hee
we had one on those to, especially good in the afternoons when there were no adults around, do you read calvin and hobbs?
I have 4 of those Bill Waterson classics...... Theres treasure everywhere.... hehehehe! I guess that was the nice thing about living as a kid here... it was safe, plenty of places and space to let your imagination roam!
:)
give the children empty boxes for presents I say.......
Talking of box's, I used to enjoy playing in that pile of empty box's that they kept at the old shop for customers, remember, behind the tills was a hokkie full of box's......
:D
talking about boxes, i had to make rockets for my two boys outa boxes, i was really chuffed with the outcome, so where my kids....
You know that they won't really fly?
Hehehe! Gnite Shazz! talk again sometime.... ;)
Mike
nite mike, yes they did fly......i kicked em and they flew.........hee hee. have good dreams now......counting those diamonds......
I Remeber Nicolene and Percy Barratt having the best tree house in O/M across the road from me on 2nd ave. and also an underground den .....dont know what that really was but made a great place to play
We had a real den in our tree in 3rd ave. Now both the tree house and the tree have disappeared. How ungrateful on the part of the new residents >:( !!!
The late Willie Rentel, allied services manager , also did'nt agree with pulling down trees in the desert, they would reroute fences around trees instead of pulling them down...this seems to have changed of late....
>:(
