Well here;s a bit of positive news..... Ex CDM Employee;s and now retiree's , Malcolm and Denise Handly, who left Omund back in 94, phoned Michele today..... They wish to return to Oranjemund in Mid January to rent a House from OTMCO as a safe have to retire to.....
Michele and I took a walk to the house, keys in hand to do an inspection of the premises for them..... it looks good, so we expect them to return to a long lasting retirement in Oranjemund in January.......
Now if only other pensioners would see the benefit of retiring here..... if only the company would do more to "market: their empty houses and generate the local economy further....

I also know of another long time Oranjemund resident, who is busy organizing a kitted out wendy house in his garden, as his retired in laws are coming to retire to Omund also..... hope they play bowls......

Mike A, wasn't your pops the first "perminent resident" of omund. I recall there being an article in the gazette a few years back; it's probably posted elsewhere on the forum.
Good to hear that one of the missing age groups (senior citizens) will be returning, slowly but probably surely. And... with OPS progressing with the higher grades the other missing age group (teenagers / highschoolers) will also be more secure. Alex Bay did helpp get the ball on the roll but now Omund is putting its own efforts in.
Perhaps 5 years from now in terms of population demographics Omund will be a normal community.
Ja! Andy, JOck was the first Namdeb retiree to get it right to retire in Oranjemund, without having to own a business and be living in his own place......
Well, the pensioners and ex Oranjemund residents, Malcolm and Denise have just arrived, ready to enjoy their retirement in Oranjemund, they are already contributing to the local economy and are going to be buying furniture next week..... and a gardener will be employed...
Pity we could'nt get more Pensioners into the empty houses...

Give it chance Mike A, Rome wasn't built in a day, neither was Oranjemund.
The word will get around. There are enough folk on this forum that long for Omund, well sadly it's not quite like it used to be, but hey, it's what you make of it. The old timer's will roll in; just you wait and see.
