Hope that the mine finds a wee bit of money to employ a B band worker to remove the weeds around the town, seeing that OTMCO cannot afford to employ a chap to remove these things.... down at Eastgate (Quitegate) , I walked past a 1m weed growing outta the pavement, Shucks! and they say plants cannot grow in the desert.....
I also hope that they send the chap who waters the fifth avenue park on a training course..... that park is becoming an eyesore of late, huge yellow patches and the sands are now advancing at least 6 metres into the park.....we will not even mention the once green patch on the opposite side of the road from the park en route to the Police station.....
thumper
Some pics of the weeds growing around town were send to OTMCO because they did not know what the residents were complaining about.
They removed only the weeds in the pics and left the rest. image14
Having just arrived back in O'mund I was surprised to see the new trees growing on the edges of the central reservation near the "seven Sisters" at the entrance to town but after a closer look, I realised it wasn't trees at all but long weeds.
I wonder what the impression this gives to first time visitors to this once wonderful town...............!!!!!!!!!!!
Ooops! Did I Mention the dying lawns next to the Power Station, St George's Square and next to the Namdeb Phone dept..... or the dead lawns by the parking bay at the pre primary, only 12 months ago, they were all green, now they blend in with the desert sands..... that yellow colour....
swink
OTMCO ASSHOLES .... KEEP ON POSTING PICS TO THEM MAYBE THEY WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE IS COLD AND THE MILK CURDLED ON TOP ...
Look for a few potholes in the roads and plant a row of trees- take the photos & send to those responsible for fixing the town.
This was done a couple of years ago in SA and boy did it get noticed, was a big thing in the papers fro a day or two - got the powers motivated

... and the Tank Park along 9th too...
Instead of naming ALL of the various plubic parks and open grasslands it is easier and shorter to say that the only GREEN areas are those of residents who are still looking after their gardens inside and out and these are far and few between.
Come on NAMDEB TOP MANAGEMENT,(forget OTMCo) get your rear into gear and start to look after the town.
HI SANDY, As long the sour milk is not DAIRYBELLE then im happy as I dont package sour milk.........
Guess the guys were away for December, noticed quite a few sprayers on around the parks today with a cleaning crew working the flats on 5th.....
:ciupa1:
The town is being restored to it's original clean and tidy state, I believe the GM had some words to say about the situation in his brief today..... needless to say, it is indeed a pleasure to see the streets being cleaned and lawns getting watered.,
Das is gud ja... was busy strategising on which neighbours I could harness into my Tank Park irrigation program. The Mrs tells me last night that part of the park was watered yesterday. Someting is happening.
Michele, baby and I went for our daily walk last night, I almost feel over, and stood in disbelief, somebody had stolen all my weeds and grass that use to be decorating St George's square...... now if they just look into the log that is lying there and that dangerous white electrical cable that is just lying on the surface for about 22 m then we should be back on track......
woo_hoo
Andy D, (Mr Safety Rep) remember we had a conversation about the same said cables that Mike A is mentioning in his note above.
Why don`t you all just move to Luderitz, we don`t really have grass here then you have nothing to complain about.
Good one Clint, noticed that last time I was there, the only "flowers" you guys gow are desert rose...
@Mike A, I see in Mr General Manager's brief yesterday that our town management company got a bit of beef about the state of the town. I agree whole heartedly with his comment that us a residents should take care of the properties we stay on, including pavements. We concerned citizens undoubtedly do, we now just have to convince the less enthusiastic and not so locally based residents to do the same... care for their yards, well at least the pavements would make the town look better.
Will attend to your cable right away.
Agreed Andrew .. firstly the OTMCO to be taken to task ,, but then as we have learnt here in the big world ,, no cradle to grave looking after ... ok not all folk here subscribe to that ,,, the attitude is I pay rates and taxes so therefore council must celan up and maintain ... that was old days past times ... ultimately the mark of a good citizen is pride in his surroundings .. and helping make it happen ... some people have their priorities screwed like my neighbours two doors down ,, these two cretins , have a property thats run down in front and even worse at the back its a shithouse at the back ,, their bathroom is in a state of total disrepair , a project was started years ago and all that shows is a skeleton of a building , an abaandoned dog .. tons of dog poo ,, the back gate now come loose so they prop it with beams and bricks ,,, YEEET they suddenly can afford to buy a good 2nd hand new shape Corsa ,, they came out in late 2007 so its a fair debt they have undertaken ... they already ahve a running Golf .. yet they cannot instead take on the debt instead to enhance thir property ... f... palukas ... we have twice engaged our garden help to clean the weeds in the lane right up to the back of their property just so as to make our back lane look respectable ... they see nothing beyond their front door , braai area in front and lounge to entertain their friends .. wonder how they explain the rotten bathroom ??? the ack of the house broken windows and mess ... Uuugh ... hope the Corsa blows up ............
Having joined Michele and Kelvin for their daily evening walk this evening, I notice that the cable mentioned previously is STILL laying on the surface around George Square and I suppose Namdeb and it's environs are still awarded the equivalent of the old NOSA 5 stars. Come on Loss Control, this could be an accident in waiting. It is even more exposed than what it was in December
With apologies to Stevie Wonder.
If its magic then all would be fantastic in Lala land
If its magic then alien trees, weeds and negativity would be totally band
If its magic then returning Oranjemunders wouldn't bitch
If its magic they would get out their tools and do their bit.
If its magic then why is the grass so much greener on the other side?
If its magic then be proactive and keep up the pride
If its magic then no planning would be needed to get to 2050
If its magic then phone or email about the electricity as apposed to commentating so shittily!
Yea sir, like you rightly said: IF ITS MAGIC.
- Its not negativity but fact.
- Its not only returning Oranjemunders that bitch.
- People are employed to handle these issues and are paid to do it, believe it or not.
- The grass is not greener on the other side, they have grass, we are losing ours!
- To be proactive would be to assist, not do the work for those employed to do it.
- They have the tools (planners and assistants) but they don't know how to plan, only to crises manage.
- Like previously said, it has been reported. Action will only take place when we have near miss or, hopefully not, a fatality.
On a positive note, I think this forum does better than any phone call or email.
Mmm .. Nada too true .. yes there are the indeed paid to do , and yes it seems only crisis management happens , strange how things have to reach crisis before action occurs ,, infrastructure needs constant attention ... not " Oops the grass is dying ... , Oops someone got shocked etc etc " its all too late .... the idea of people actually doing things and letting it be known is a way of drawing attention ... Bradleys words are true too ,, bitch to the appropriate folk .. there are appropriate channels ... I do it here in CT a lot of the time as you notice from some of my writings ... and this terrier never lets go of the bone once he's got it in his possesion ... Grrrr OTMCO lucky I'm not a resident ... ok rephrase a troublesome citizen ... 16_1_231
Let's be realistic.... at the end of the day..... everything in life boils down to $$$$$$$$$$
........... Without the Dosh you ain't gonna get squwat!
Er..... as Flanders puts it..... Diddly Squat!~
ape
Interestingly so there are some ratepayers assocoiations in SA that have in the light of astronomical municipal tax with no delivery opted for putting a huge slice of their rates into trust funds and getting private contractors to do what the municipality can not seem to get right .. guess what they now had the race card thrown at them .... what a joke ... palukas cannot deliver but yet want take the money and waste it on flashy cars , flashy hotels while on conferences and failed projects with politically connected that can neither deliver ... irrespective .... currently in OM you dont pay rates and taxes , but yes they factored into the whole deal ... so go banging on doors ...
