Mmm the prices .. and yes it was real food . not plastic ... although Mac Donalds rates top of the plastic food scale ....
On the same subject.....I happened to be at the opening of the first Spur Restaurant (The Golden Spur in Newlands) when a Spur burger, chips, onion rings and all the trimmings set me back a whopping 40c. This was circa 1967 when pocket money at boarding school was about R10.00 a term!
... and a packet of Simba chips only cots 7c ...
You got two Wilsons Toffees for 5 cents .
And the bioscope on a Saturday afternoon for 15c............I used to get 35c pocket money :ciupa1:
I even remember 8 or 10 cents for the movies.
Unbelievable how inflation grows....
