just found oranjemund on line, this is linda and kevin murrell lived in oranjemund 1979/8 1. very sorry to hear about boetie and marie groenewald, we spent lots of time with them at the gun club and were made welcome into their home and family. Also sorry to hear about the passing of Edgar Selby, Kevin ate lunch with him many times. I worked at no.4 plant with Petro Faul and we had lots of laughs. Remember a party at mike hardman's. Any one know the whareabouts of Frank and Josie Robbins, our friends and neighbours.
Linda , I heard that they planned to work in Dubai . But that was around 1985 . wheather they actually went I can not confirm .
hk
Thanks for that Hennie,
Kevin met Frank in London around 1983/4 when Frank was on his way to Saudi but he did not hear from him after that. Kevin asks if you remember the time that he and Frank were moving the shelves above the benches in number four plant workshop and a large diamond fell out from where Johnny the 'Yugoslav' contractor used to sit?
Do you know what happened to Graham Brading?
Yes I remember the incedent very well , because I and Gerrie v Schalkwyk had to testify to security about the diamond that was found at Jonny [Sararjevo]'s workbench . Jonny was up to mischief more than once . He once questioned the SABS 's competancy re checking his nuclear radiation badge . so he left it for a weekend on a cobalt soarce . We had an emergency call from the atomic energy board to immediately take him for medical examination . well it took several sworn statements etc to get him off the hook
Linda , where are you and Kevin living now ?
Hi Hennie
Thanks for the response. Is Gerrie still with us?
Kevin and I are living in Hampshire, UK after a few years in Texas (Kevin works for IBM). We have recently been wondering what it would be like to retire to Namibia. We lived in Swakopmund for a few years before moving to Oranjemund.
Where are you living now?
A note to Gun Club members:
The weather has been pretty poor here over the last week or so, so we've trawled through some old photo albums. Kevin is going to buy a new scanner and we'll upload some pics as soon as we get them scanned. Sandy, Bev, Mike Hardman, Boetie, and Freddie etc.
Some photo's could be withheld for a suitable donation!
Linda.
Hi there Linda... gosh I remember that part at Mike and Viv's house very well .... I think it was the one we had while Viv was in Cape Town... not too sure ...we had quite a few!! So nice to hear you and Kevin are keeping well ...Mike (by the way I am his sister.. was married to Rainer Siebers but as do most thing in Oranjemund ... that changed) would love to hear from you ... I can't access his email address right now but if you check out the website www.precisionmeters.co.za you should be able to get hold of him.... he runs the company.... is doing very well and is in good health after a cancer scare two years ago!! I am not too sure if you would be overjoyed with a visit to Oranjemund... it has changed drastically from those days but we still go every Feb to play in the Sperrgebied golf and still have loads of fun.
Anyay do keep well... I will tell Mike to log on here and he can get hold of you.
Stay well and fond regards
Linda
