Title: The Beach is trashed, next year pls close the mine.....
Post by: Michael Alexander on December 30, 2009, 09:49:30 AM
While I am on a roll...... I take back my words, will the mine pls shut down over December in future so that all the non Oranjemunders can piss off back to where they came, has anybody seen the state of the beach........ Unbelievable.... I have never ever in all my 38 years here, seen the beach in such an disgusting state........ The mine should remove those cement braai areas.... they were only painted recently when mad bob and the other political knobs came for a visit to see the big waters, three months down the road, they are trashed, the folk do not know how to keep this place tidy.....  I know it's bad for business..... but I miss my quiet Decembers in Omund........

I also hope that the guy who waters all those lawns in Omund comes back soon, coz, there is a moerofa lot of yellow grass around..... and don't get me started on the weeds......

Spar is now watering the flowerbeds in front of the store.......

Mike relax the thing is that there are very few people left that actually care about cleaning up after themselves etc

What is the point of complaining when the people who leave the mess were brought up to expect others to clean up after themselves.

It is not a cultural thing, just that most children have not been taught discipline or how to respect others. unfortunately, this is what is wrong with the World today

It has always puzzled me how  people can lug full  bottles , papsakke , food containers etc ,,thats to get to  their  picnic/ braai  spot  but  thereafter somehow seem to lack the  energy to  take  all the empty stuff  home  or at least  put  it  in bins  that are  within  reach   ... PIGS .. and  yes its a lack of good upbringing ...

In Germany people tend to leave their home rubbish on the countryroad and Autobahn parking places. Sometimes they just throw their bags out of the moving car.

So  Georg  you saying its  not  just a "thirld world thing "  interesting ...  must then mean a  general lack of pride in surroundings ...

You're both right.
But taken on an average, people say Germany is very clean and tidy.

I see someone at near the grass islands in 8th Ave is watering there too... and Flip from across the street was in the tree belt at the end of 9th Ave fixing the irrigation.
As posted elsewhere by Mike S and Sandy B, looks like the community of Omund r going to have to put in our share to keep the place alive.

As far as the trash heads that frequent the beach r concerned... no hope for them... may 2010 be the k@#est year they have and only get worse for them from here onward.

To all the other tranquil peace loving concerned Omund citizens, may our efforts of keeping this oasis alive bear fruit that will be enjoyed by like minded folk for the rest of our years.

Long live Oranjemund!

OTMCO should be liquidated..... it's obvious the entire "experiment" of trying to prove that the town can run without DeBeers  has shown that it cannot work...... All that is happening is a "patching up " Process....... time for Allied Services to return..... put the town back to being a beautiful oasis.......

..... and this is my two cents, I am entitled to have an opinion, in case somebody takes offence at my comments.....

In Australia I was pleasantly surprised that people generally place their rubbish into th ebins provided and will clean the public gas barbeques (skottel braai) after use. Yes, there is rubbish left around but not as much as we were used to.
