This is the remains of the "Tate toilet" public loo in the Tank Park between 9th & 11th Avenue. This loo along with a few others around town were flattened end of last year. Many of these facilities have been flattened over the past few years as some of them were in a bad state, being vandalised and generally under utilised.
This one... a pity.
Generally... fair enough.
My point..?
How long is this floor/deck and foundation going to be left here??? The floor between 5th & 6th street is still protruding above the grass on the islands and that was flattened a few years back.
Come on guys... if you're going to wreck a joint, do it properly, take it all away and rehab the site properly!
Andy D, looking at O'mund on our visit over the Festive Holiday, it looks as if Management do not really care at all, or they must be totally blind. We all know that there is a financial impact on any work being carried out but if it is looked at objectively and planned accordingly by the right team then the mess that is currently left would not be there. We all know that in the main, OTMCo is nothing but a drain on the ecomony of Namdeb and sometimes a joke.....
OK... there must be someone out there from OTMCo or management that are keeping an eye on the forum... Friday on my way back from work I find workers with a tractor and trailer cleaning up the leftovers of the Tank Park loo.
On closer inspection during yesterday's doggy walk I realised there is still much to be removed...
I'll give them the rest of the week before I start moaning again.
msn emoticon (9) The power of the electronic media.....
Really is a pity, only if there were more companies envolved in Oranjemund.
OK childrens play nicely now. Take a step back and think a little. OTMCO has a full team including an "EBander" that was given the town to manage. The fact that they are not I am sure has been seen by the powers that be. In fact just by the mention in the GM Brief shows that they are aware of the problem and have maybe cracked the proverbial whip. Surely the "big knobs" with apologies to to those that hate the name, have more important issues to worry about like the the running of the core business DIAMOND MINING than a few weeeds. If you see a bloody weed on your walks, pull the thing up and take it home with your dogs business in a plastic bag. I don't know about you guys, but most of the parks are covered in dogs business and having a brisk walk around land mines is very irritating. I appreciate the fact that there are many dogs roaming and not kept in the yards concerned, but I have seen on many occasions that people let their dogs run free in the dessert, let them do what ever and then leave it there. This is really not fair on those of us that walk with their off spring and dogs and then spend time on cleaning takkies full of poo. So lets be proactive, keep your front area neat and tidy, pull a weed on your walks and keep on OTMCO back. After all they are the ones that should take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for their actions. In fact Mike not so long ago, I saw a lady sweeping the pedestrian crossing in front of Spar, because it was covered in broken cooldrink bottle glass thus preventing little feet from being cut and tyres from going flat. This is proactiveness in any body's language. So get out there and maybe some bright spark will start a garden competition and lets us see if we can motivate all concerned. By the way thanks to all concerned for the extra money over November and December. What a welcome that was. So my blessings are being counted.
Well said . Bradley .. be proactive .... and as for the dog poop thing ,, here in Woodstock people sensitive about it .. most responsible dog walkers carry the plastic bags to pick it up , and boy if you dont you get challenged .. yet there still the cretins walking and letting dog s poop indiscrimately ... Pride in our surroundings is not only waiting for the " powers that be to take care of things " i have encountered here in CT the attitude of " I pay rates and taxes so there fore the coke can or KFC container i throw out of the car is taken care of ." .. our municipal services that we were used to years ago are severely strained here in CT and most responsible folk realise that .. so there fore if they are proud of their area try their best to take care of it .... I rest my case ............
