I drove from the Hockey Field to 6th avenue this afternoon..... WoW! Everywhere you looked ... teams of workers cleaning up...... opposite the school, a group remove the weeds and clearing the curbs, guys painting the roads, people fixing walls, chaps watering the flowers.. one guy was even kitted out, spraying pesticides along the lawns of 5th avenue.....
Great stuff , to whoever is responsible, I just hope that this is not all being done because the Oppenheimer's are due for a visit.......

Greetings folks
As far back as I can recall, I have called the beautiful and magnificent town of Oranjemund my home, needles to mention that a lot has changed over the years (CDM era to date). As some bloke once put it, "change itself is the only constant we are assured of in life."
Most of the changes we have seen deployed of recent have been strategic and were necessitated by the terrible turn of events that took place on the world's financial stage. Subsequent to these undesirable events, there are a number of residents that have succumbed to a sense of hopelessness, they couldn't care less what happens to our beloved town, they mess up empty houses and dump household waste and garden refuse in places not designated for that purpose.
This, as most of you will agree with me, is not the right stance to adopt, we can't abandon all hope and allow decay and lawlessness to preside over our town.
The culture of dignified "Oranjemunders" over the years has always been that of caring for each other and being proud of that, which makes us unique. Driving through town, you might have noticed that there is a wind of change sweeping across this place, people are cleaning up, OTMCo is communicating a positive message to all residents that echoes the same sentiments.
It is against this back drop, that inspiration was derived by the local Rotary club, to say, "Enough is enough", if we can't start with ourselves to make a tangible difference for our town, who will?
On Saturday the 6th of February, members of our community came together at the 5th Avenue park to make their contribution in rehabilitating our town, by mending and painting the apparatus the children play on. Notably, the children showed up in numbers to make their mark. Let me take this opportunity to thank the following people for assisting us.

The positive energy seams to be spreading like wild fire, it has already ignited the emotions of church groups and youth gatherings, who are pledging their allegiance to the cause and have requested help in facilitate similar events at other parks in town.
We challenge everybody out there to make their positive mark on Oranjemund, be it your garden or the grass patch adjacent to your residence. If your garden is already in a great state, offer to plant a new tree and keep it watered.
Remember that, gone are the days of asking what NAMDEB can do for you, we need to take ownership of this, soon to be proclaimed town and make it our mainstay.
Let us maintain this momentum and good energy, Oranjemund needs us.
