Things must be picking up..... The Pink Lady reopened her doors today to satisfy the growing demand for as a good place to dine.....
The recession closed this establishment down..... but we have persevered...
In a chat with a high placed source from this establishment, I was informed of the impending and exciting multiple Ice Cream dish that will be part of the menu soon......
Good Eating and Good Luck!

That was the old staff mess Frank ...
OK thanks for that! had a look at google earth, so the street the photo was taken from is that 7th or 9th avenue ??? .........and that must be the pool on the left we would catch the bus to work on that corner.................................
Taken from 9th... the Pool on the left... here is a snap of the said bus stop.....
They just got two busses running the route now days, they no longer use the above buss stop they come down 9th ave past the pool turn right go onto 11th turn left passed the hospital, school and pick up guys / girls outside the hostel then make there way back to check point
Alfie, I beg to differ, every morning , when I swim my lengths in the town pool, the bus pulls up to that bus stop and waits for 5 minutes before driving off again....
I also see that the bench in that particular stop was repaired and repainted last month.....
Mike, that could be the Daberas bus you see stop at the pool. I think they still use the old bus route to collect their team.
The bus to PCC definitely turns right, picks up at the mess, and then up 11th past school & hospital, left at the hostel and right at the bedsitters into 8th Ave all along to West 8th Ave and back to Mine Road along Namib drive.
Thanks for that information!. The problem I have is trying to find our house we lived in and I am nearly sure our address was E42-9th avenue. But looking at google the angle of the last house in that avenue (9th) seems to be wrong. We were the last house in the avenue and the road running North to South then the wind break....... Maybe they added house on and shifted the windbreak, the house I thought was ours is the 4 houses North the angle of that house is what I can remember.
Alfred thanks for the photo!! and where you say the bus stop is I think was the entrance to the pool and the bus stop I was referring to was around the corner on the road running North and South to the mess hall..............I realise its forty years ago....and things have changed.
Forty years ... I look back I was back after 28 years ,,, strange the town looked so much smaller that i remebered it but after a day or two the old feeling seeped back ... I recall Bev and I standing in front of the FNB and just absorbing ...
oops
E42- 9th is the green circle
My house is the yellow circle
The two blue squares used to be park homes
The white circle is the tank park
Many thanks for that Alfred .......... that must be it!! must dig out the old photos none of that in front was there we could see all the way up to the site of the flying fox.........Frank.
I think 40yrs ago there wasn't much north of your house, so that is it Andrew and my house are at least 40+ yrs old, somewhere on the forum there was a aerial snap of this area which will give clarity
Found it
That's how I remember it nothing in front of the last house on 9th avenue and a clear view of the Ostrich outside the fence over to the right..........thanks again Alfred
Rightly so you guys.........40yrs+
