Title: Old Oranjemunder ~ Tony Jackman
Post by: Michael Alexander on May 24, 2010, 01:06:30 PM
Received an email from Tony Jackman!

" was born there in 1955 and left in 1969. My parents were Betty and Cyrl Jackman and we lived at 38, 13th Avenue in what was then one corner of the town near the road that went to the hydroponics and the cemetery, where my late brother Phillip Garry is buried. My sister Pat now lives in Piketberg.

I was saddened to hear a few years ago that Eileen Johnson had died. I also knew Cindy Alcock, who died in the mid-70s.

I grew up to become a journalist and writer of other things, including two stage plays, one of which is to have a professional production at a theatre in Cape Town early next year, which is a long-awaited breakthrough for me.

My daughter, Rebecca, is now 25 and studying journalism - my wife Diane Cassere (who hailed from Pietermaritzburg) is also a journalist, so it seems to run in the family.

Feel free to also put my email address (the one below) online should anyone who remembers me like to be in touch. Not this one though - this is just an address where I am working at the moment.

I have had no contact with any Oranjemunders since we left there in 1969, with the single exception of Sandy Buchanan.

All the best,

Tony Jackman"

Thanks Tony,
