Title: SMOKING IN THE HOME
Post by: SandyB on May 24, 2010, 07:50:01 PM
Albeit me  still smoking , we have a new take on  it in the home ... I always  smoked only in the dining room  and study area , the rest of the house  unless one had guests around  one would not smoke in ...  we have now moved  the smoking further down to the kitchen only ( unless one has guests ) and of course  the garden , the reason for the kitchen is  if I am cooking and creating  I need my wine and ciggies  ... ask Cherry she been around twice in the new arrangement  and finds it  not objectionable  although  technically  as a having a guest we could smoke in the dining room area , we do not ,, currently i have many ciggies burning out in ashtray in kitchen ... one  way to cut back hey ???? actually it has reduced my intake  considerably  with no pain ...    cat1.gif

Another quirk  is  I  do not smoke at work ... last ciggie is  before bed ... next one is when I  get home in the afternoon  .. the only time I would smoke at work is if  I am  in  an exceptionally good mood ... or if i saw somebody  who smoked " in distress "  then  I would  calmly say  .. how  about an " informal management meeting "  or if they did not smoke  still suggestingthe same  , most cases I  get the amazed look" but  you do not smoke" ... my response ...  well I do ..  and  come and chat with me ... maybe I can help .... strangley enough showing that I am but with vices etc  seems to relax  them and opens up good dialogue ...
Now the burning question .. " you ahve such good discipline ,, why not just give  up ?? "  Nah .. actually I have no answers for that .. .. lleave  me as i am ...  cat1.gif

Sandy I did smoke a long time ago! and I know going cold turkey is quite difficult, members of my own family still smoke to my constant utterances to them about the crap they are putting in their body's.There are many different things you can try to help stop the habit, like nicorette patches nicorette chewing gum the problem with a lot of these remedies are you get hooked on them and the analogy that we are going to die of something well let it not be self inflicted like smoking.

The Tobacco company's are criminals the last commercial crop of tobacco was grown in Australia October 26, 2006 Australia's tobacco growing industry have been shut down after the last growers voted for a federal government buy-out of their licences. So its not as if its banned here the government is very positive with anti smoking adverts and offering help to people that genuinely want to stop smoking. Champix I have been told that you can get it on prescription here in Australia but the doctors will only prescribe it once (its expensive the four week starter pack below is around $350 US.) and it has a very high rate of success, and there are dangers that go with it when taken, like anything

Champix Uses: Starter Pack + 4 Weeks This contains everything from the starter pack plus 56 tablets of the 1mg, this is enough for 6 weeks in total.Champix is a new prescription medication designed to help you stop smoking. Champix takes away the satisfying feeling and enjoyment you get when smoking a cigarette. The active ingredient is Varenicline Tartrate and it works by satisfying the part of your brain that craves nicotine, without actually putting nicotine into your body as other treatments do.

The point I am making is to.......... 'STOP SMOKING'..... take it out of the house altogether, if this sounds like someone ranting "yes I am" but there again nip into the nearest hospital and see for yourself the devastation.......... SMOKING WILL DO TO YOU!!

I remember the slogan: "Kick the butt"

I stopped smoking in 1989 amd am so happy about it. Even though I really enjoyed it. I smoked Frensh Goulliose. Double as strong as Marbaro or Camel.
First thing in the morning was a fag. Withought I'd cough half of my lounge out.    ape

Good on you Georg. Bet you feel much better. Just imagine how your health would be today if you had continued smoking. Apart from swiping my dad's cigarettes as a kid to go and smoke behind a bush somewhere (like so many of us ...), I have never smoked. My dad went from smoking 2 to 3 packs a day to quitting overnight. The smokers' cough he started having scared the sh*ts out of him and although he did take his frustrations out on his poor pillow everynight, he never smoked another cigarette again.
