Regards to all,
Bob.
thanks for that Bob ....
Had a long chat with a friend last night on this one .. agreed point is sweep all preconcieved ideas and views the expression injustice is injustice comes to the fore ...
He did a religious pilgrimage a few years ago and was shocked at the general intolerance of all groupings toward each other .. all this happening in the so called holy land ............. it filters down from the leaders ,
Here is the Sydney Morning Herald report on what happened when three Israel missile ships attacked the unarmed convoy that was bringing aid to Gaza. Unconfirmed reports say up to 19 dead and dozens injured on board the Turkish ferry vessel which was leading the fleet. The ships carried such warlike equipment as food, wheelchairs and prosthetic limbs for hundreds of Palestinian children maimed in Israeli air attacks, medical supplies and sacks of cement to rebuilt Gazan infrastructure destroyed be the Israelis. This is but the latest atrocity by the Israelis in Palestine since their rogue state was created by terror over 60 years ago. Interested to hear some opinions here.

ITS ON OUR NEWS BOB .... AND YES THE USUAL FINGERPOINTING AND JUSTIFICATION OF ACTIONS STARTING .. LIKE I SAID EARLIER INJUSTICE IS INJUSTICE ,,, LOOKING AT IT FROM THAT POINT OF VIEW ISRAEL SHOULD DO WHAT IS RIGHT .. BE THE BETTER MAN AND CEASE THE HOSTILE ATTITUDE AND SEEK GENUINE PEACE ...
I watched on the news tonight ...shoot me down anyone ... my opinion .. the full scale battle on the ship ,,fok on board retaliating by attacking the soldiers that boarded the ship with pipes throwing one of them overboard etc ... thats the risk of being a soldier ... sadly so a direct reaction to aggression ,,, I admit to human frailty ,,, the meaning of these folk going in with the peaceful intention of hopefully by international exposure getting through the blockade of open international waters and achieving their goal ... it stirs in my soul , the selfsame adventures we had in the dark 80's defying " authority " hoping that good would prevail , but when faced with aggression the line between peaceful and warlike if one is on a mission with good intention become so blurred .. and it spills over into stuff that can make one not feel good about oneself ...
sadly so the israeli authorities deemed themselves sooo right , despite the risk of international condemnation again among the many agains .. to take the course they did ... Again I say in this holy land they should be practicing being the better man ,,
My Father taught me that the better man despite circumstances has the capability to put aside his rage , put aside his prejudice , put aside his taught by parents and ordained by leaders feelings of superiority and thereby the feeling of being in the right , instead to try reach out and try to find the common ground ... Trust me its a hard act to follow but I have done it in a few circumstances and found the outcome good and found peace in my heart ...

Israel doesn't want peace, it wants war. Only by war can it acquire more territory. During its sixty odd years of existence it has been at constant war with Palestinians and has now expanded its terrority to cover almost 90 per cent of Palestine. All that is left is the Gaza strip (an area less than half the size of the Cape Peninsula into which 1.5 million terrified and starving Palestinians are crammed) and part of the West Bank.
The goal is to make life so unlivable in Gaza that its residents will leave and join the other three and a half million Palestinians alread expelled and living in refugee camaps outside Israel.
The attack on the convoy in international waters was just another demonstration of Israeli might. The deaths were intentional, the idea being to show that Israel's response to any provovation is always so extreme that anyone tangles with them at their peril. Israel is a nuclear power and boasts enough military might to make even one of the major powers think carefully before challenging it.
World condemnation, even boycott, is irrelevant to Israel in terms of the big picture. They control American foreign policy through the all-powerful Zionist lobby www.lrb.co.uk/v28/n06/john-mearsheimer/the-israel-lobby which brings them 10 billion dollars in cash and kind annually, and run world opinion through media ownership.

This latest Israeli obscenity will play itself out in the media without any attempt to explain to viewers and readers what the real background is and, within a very short time, disappear off the radar. Israel will then go back to what it does best, create terror and with it new territory.
Through war it has already reduced Egypt, Jordon, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq to vassal states. The last man standing insofar as Middle East opposition to their plans is Iran. The flood of negative publicity about that country in western media is just the preliminary phase. Next comes sanctions and then missiles. It's an old familiar picture and we, the West, have been duped into paying for it.
All one can do on this site is as I have is express an opinion based on common feelings of human decency , sign petitions as in Avaaz ... but yes engaging people in the subject , see what they know or care about ... sadly so not many care or have an opinion or even agree on one thing its one land grab and an inhumane and brutal one ... again sickmaking stuff ...........
With so many years of death, fighting and fear... is there really a peaceful solution? Problem rooted too deep for us to understand, I think. I can just hope for a miracle, for I see no easy solution to the problem...
Sad, and another sign of "humanity" showing how NOT to be humane...

Hi Bertie,
Quote: "Problem too deep-rooted for us to understand.."
The problem is quite simple and straightforward - theft of land. To that we can add genocide and ethnic cleansing, all aimed at stealing more land.
That's the problem; it's the solution which is not so simple.
We, the united nations of the world, have formed an organisation to collectively handle such problems. It generally works well until we have a rogue state such as Israel backed by a member of the Security Council (The United States). The result is that Israel can ignore UN regulations, happy in the knowledge that the US will use its Security Council veto to nullify any resolution which the UN passes against Israeli war crimes.
Israel is currently in breach of dozens of UN resolution, the most important being Resolution 237 calling on the Israelis to go back to their 1967 borders and begin proper peace talks. That resolution has been in place for more than 40 years and been not only ignored but further transgressed with the theft of more land. Gaza is simply the next piece up for grabs, if only they can starve or terrorise its inhabitants into leaving.
UN Resolutions Targeting Israel and Palestinians
Science and nature is my field, I actually have NO interest in politics, so I wont get into any debate on the matter. I still think though that the problem did not arise after the resolution a mere 40 years ago, but much deeper and centuries ago. Throw in different religions into any conflict and it quadruples the complexity of the situation.
Good luck to all trying to solve the situation...
Hi Bertie,
I'm here to learn. If you have some information that the whole stoush began "centuries ago" please post it. Meantime, here is a short little video that will put the whole Palestine question in context. If the sound begins with an irritating voice echo you've possibly double-clicked. Try again with a single click.
Regards,
Bob.
