Hehehehe! Thought that headline would grab your attention.... Anyhow, here's an interesting development ... The GYM, situated behind the bioscope, where (I think) The boxing Club used to be........ is having a facelift....Away with the cement walls and in with modern Glass walls.......
NOw, this might just be me, but knowing ladies who live in country towns....... who like to visit gyms during quiet times (in order to avoid being seen) to have a work out, might not like the idea of having the passing traffic having a view of their rather enlarged butts sagging over the edge of a bicycle .......
But then , that;'s just my 2 cents....
Oh, the last snap is of the house that has been now converted to the new private Dentist's surgery.....
That part of the gym used to be the Bridge Club. When The Gym moved over from where the "Executive Gym" used to be, at the back end of the staff single quarters, the broke the wall out between the West Coast Gym and the old Bridge Club to make space for the xtra equipment that came over.
When you look at the last photo (with the glass window shop-front), is the cinema to your left? If so, that gym is indeed where the boxing used to be (1970's), and just to the right of it (inside) was the karate class.
The boxing club was there, just a bit before Andy's arrival in town.... interesting to know that the Bridge Cub was there at one stage....... never knew that..... Sadly the Bridge Club is a thing of the past......
In my time the "Bridge Club" would have been the Swartkops security...
The Table tennis club was there one time to...
Wasn't the karate club there too? And the badminton court next door?
The Karate club is next door, still going I think..
I remember the boxing club being in that section in my time also the "weight lifting club". If I'm not mistaken
Ya back to the Mike A comment the new windows don't like it just started going to the gym and now after a short holiday I will not return to the Gym
I found the assistance I got from the staff and other members was superb and everybody within the privacy of the cement walls respected each other looks, I will feel uncomfortable going now until they hang the curtains
My 3 cents
