Sitting quietly listening to some good music about an hour/ half ago ... hear an alarm go off ... think to myself .. " oh no not the bloody school across the roads alarm again... its nuisance .. regular fights with headmaster about is cos sometimes it goes off for hours ... anyhpw alarm stops ... then starts again .. i call paul and ask him if it could maybe be the house he's looking after down the road ... we go outside ,, its the students next door alarm going off ,,, we standing there in front while I'm trying to get them on the phone ... Paul sees that the front window smashed ... then suddenly the front door swings open... hell we nearly peed oursleves ... I run into house to get the two calvary swords we keep... frantic multitasking ... Paul runs to back lane to check .. here me standing in front shouting to whoever may be inside .... If you in there you f..... d I got a sword ... and theres somebody at the back as well with a sword you f....d cos the cops are coming as well .... call the security company and cops ... major multitasking adrenaline pumping .. rattling the sword against the security gate ... anyhow security guys and cops arrive .... the front door security gate was jimmied .. the front door jimmied ... they got in .. did the quick see whats to take .. got scared and ran as no one was in the house ... If we had reacted to the alarm first time we would have been in a confrontation situation without the swords .. so maybe better so ...
Now we have not had break ins in our area for absolute yonks ... these students were away for the extended holidays ... heres a mesage to all .. people watch and watch ... and then grab the opportunity to break in ... if you going away .. get someone to house sit .. for goodness sake ... never get complacent . its a bit of a wake up call for us as well

done it before Diana ... chasing would be thieves down the road howling at the top of my voice swinging my sword /// must have looked pretty scary this crazy highlander swinging his sword frothing at the mouth howling and heading straight for them ...!!

Understand your frustration Sandy! and maybe you were luckier than you think (with the sword) it may have ended with someone getting hurt. I think in circumstance's were its property that's involved then its better they get away with the goods, than someone getting hurt or even killed. With digital cameras being so small I always have mine on me (when I think too) and a few weeks ago my next door neighbour who is well into his seventies had some young thugs pretending to want to get their ball back from his yard. Bob my neighbour went back into his house forgetting to lock the security screen, three of them followed him inside one of them a young girl.
I had heard the commotion and had my camera with me, entering by the front door one of them had followed Bob outside into the yard the other two were about to you know what so I started take photo's. They all then ran out through the front door with me still taken pics of them. They shouted back why I was taken the photo's and said "you are a paedophile" we immediately phoned the police. The aftermath was the police told us its not illegal to photograph young people its what you do with the photographs, the officer then requested I delete the pictures from the camera. I did what I was asked to do but not before I copied them to a memory stick. We have indigenous problems here as well.

image061 Heard this story on Sunday night from the two of them .... oh my word .... should have seen Paul and Sandy's faces. I could'nt help laughing at their live enactment --- Paul still went white in the face. I sooooooooooo would have loved to see Sandy 'en garde' with his sword out in the road, banging on the fence, yelling at the top of his lungs at them thugs !!!!!!!
Next time when I'm in town and something like this happens - call me Sandy - I'll come handle the camera !!!! (May get a blow or two in as well.)
