Title: RIP Boet Keet
Post by: Cherry (Alcock) on July 11, 2010, 01:29:20 PM
My dearly loved dad and our grampi, Boet Keet passed on last night.  There may be some Oranjemunders who still remember him as the owner of Roan Mining Equipment who used to supply pumps to the mine for many years (his son Ian - still visits the mine).

Sad to learn about your loss Cherry. Remember Roan Mining as a supplier of pumps. Along with Pumptech, both providing pumps and wellpoint equipment to keep the foreshore mines dry whilst mining was in progress. Was Boet not recently in the news in connection with a platinum mining venture he had embarked upon in a rather unique an novel way? If I recall rightly he had found a mining method suitable for profitable application in the small scale platinum mining industry in South Africa, something that had never been ventured before now.
Condolonces to you and the family.

Thanks all for the kind words!

@Gordon; nope, not the same Boet Keet as far as I know, the folks had been retired in Plett for a long time already.
