Well..... as the rumour mill is milling out..... and on a personal note, I wonder unto myself.... if the mine had not done away with the weekly newsletter, we would be informed officially of all things mine related..... but anyhow..... sources within then "D" band who have attended various "bosberaads" / "working lunches/breakfasts".... that the mine does intend to "shutdown" for two months, during November../ December .........
If these rumours are indeed true..... one can only but wonder....... is this to offset the Proclamation process, to show that during the eventful month of november, that without DeBeers, the town is indeed worth squat........ nada..... nothing..... tumbleweed tavern....... ? Just a theory folks..... but perhaps without weight?
On the other hand, the mine , might have realised, thanks to the global recession that it is actually profitable to shut the place down for a month or two, force , everyone on leave......
From my own perspective, a private business owner...... well we incurred a massive debt , which shall still take us about 4 years to recover from, due to last year';s shutdown..... how on earth are we, as private concern's , meant to survive..... not even prosper, but survive.... keep our heads above the water.... if this rumour of a shutdown is indeed true, I fear that at least 60 % ( I just thought that the figure sounded cool) will be shut their doors forever....
So, Mr Mine manager..... brief us before this happens, so that we can at least plan ahead..... Or..... if these rumours are false , inform us, the general non mine employee public, via an official briefing what your plans are.....

Seems that the tale has been twisted.... According to an even higher placed source, what is actually happening, is that certain satellite mines might reach their targets before year end, and thus their respective sites will be shutdown, there workers, will not be forced onto leave, but relocated to other area's of this great mine.,......
Just close your eyes....it will go away. Nope my friends. It seems like things are finally hitting the downward spiral. In my shop...."worry". Poor FTC dudes are already seeing the long way home. What I can not understand, is why are we playing this game? Thinking that CDM, "namdeb" will be here forever, is a dream. You should do youself a favour, and see where they are hunting for diamond these day's.......
