Title: Matric Farewell
Post by: Dalene Steenkamp (Coetzee) on September 21, 2010, 09:16:09 AM
Well, I guess I am not the only parent today with a daughter who is attending a matric farewell ...

Susan is presently in the salon, getting her hair done  -  within half an hour we have to be off to the parlor where her make-up will be done.  Tonight is the big night and my baby is going to look like a fairy princess  -  and I get a tear in the eye, because I can't believe that my kids have grown so fast.

Boet is going with - not attending the farewell, but Susan wants him there to acompany her to the after party, for she wants her Boet to be a part of this big event in her life.  He has to sit in on the photo shoot as well (so do I) ...

Will post pics afterwards.

All the best to all the other parents out there who has a child attending a matric farewell in these days!  Hope you feel as proud of your kids as I feel of mine!

I still remember my farewell like it was yesterday.  All good memories and the guy that I went with...we ended up getting married.  Weard how life turns out.  It is such a special day and I hope that she and boet enjoyed it.   fireworks1

The kids looked wonderfull and it was such a special night for them.  The theme was Moulon Rouche (spelling?). Naturally I thought that my baby looked the best - she was beautifull like a princess from a story book.  Some woman came up to me and said she thought Susan looked like a fairy queen -  oh, I was so proud of her, my heart actually swelled (and I must admit  -  I got a bit teary... lol)

Here a few pics of my stunning Susan ...

Well, we have to see how the formal photo's from the photo shoot came out  -  these are just a few of what I have taken of her with her partner and Boet.

Thanks Paul  - yes, now all serious business starts with the final exams in a month or two.  She first wants to go to America for two years to go and work on horse farms there, then when she gets back she's going to varsity to start her 7yr law degree (LLB)  -  she wants to become and advocate.

Thanks Dalene, they are really lovely photos and I can see she is very happy and content. Well as you say, now it is crunch time. I wish her a safe trip to the States and enjoy the 2 years there. I really and truly also wish her all the successes in her life and may she be happy in the career path she has chosen. woo_hoo

Dalene - Susan looks stunning and Boet is looking great as well! The photo's are really lovely!

Susan is really lucky in that she knows what she would like to do with her future. Please wish her all the best for her matric finals!

It's scary to think that in 6 years time Shannon will be in matric! (And Kelvin will only be in Gr 0 so he will keep us young!)

Thank you Paul and Michele,

I will give her all your good wishes for the exams ahead (he he, I think my nerves are more in tatters than hers about it).

Yep, can you believe it ...  only 6 more years then your big girl also walks the same path (and believe me, you'd better start saving for the dress and accesories)  -  time goes by so quick ... it seems like only yesterday that she was this little tot with missing front teeth in sub A and now she is a young lady already!

Susan looks just like her mom. Good luck to her for her exams. I would not want to switch places with her and have to go through that again.

Thanks again everyone and I will for sure give her all your messages for the exams ahead.

She is an 'open head' girl and worked hard throughout the year, so I know everything will go just fine for her.
