Title: Shooting incedent
Post by: henniek on October 04, 2010, 08:23:26 PM
Many years ago , around about 1980 - a young man shot himself with his farthers R1 army rifle. Can anybody remember who he was ?
The surname  ? Hucker seems to stuck in my mind..  as the young man who died tragically years ago. Can any else one remember the incedent ?

I remember that. i think it was Stephen Hucker. They lived in 3rd, or maybe 2nd avenue at the time. Very sad incident.

At that stage they actually had moved to 7th avenue, to the house next to the shopping centre...... Stephen's dad, Dave Hucker was a member on this forum until his own death at the beginning of this year.....

The year is quite correct and the name seems familiar. I returned to Omund in 1979 to work on no 2 Plant and that was a big story going around at that time.Niel Bennet , the pipe smoker , and also avid member of the gun club knew of the story well. He however also passed away due to illness not long after I left in 1981.He was a great guy passed away in Milnerton Hospital area .
