I am just frustrated and need to vent my !@#$ . When my PC 's processor packed up , I allso upgraded from XP to windows 7 .To my dismay I find it quite frustrating . After every automatic update from Windows , things just go missing , or the software just get itself in a knot . e.g the latest problem today " Windows can not find drive D" ! .
I knew better , should have got Linux instead .
Mike I agree. being with a company that used Linux for its server- operating system , we never experienced problems /hangups or crashes
Can't you disable the automatic updates in Win7?
Thanks Mike , I started from scratch - format HD - reload Windows , Office etc and disabled the updates . Everything is still in place , the e mail link is still OK , Internet works , Pic's does not disappear etc. and the system knows where its things are
I got me a 2TB drive, gonna do a fresh install of Win7, XP and Linuxmint 10 which I took down last night...... then add the lot to my current 3 tb of drives......
@Stennie, if I wanna triple boot, do I install Linux last, as it should give me an option from the grub to do a triple boot and choose my default OS?
Yes use linux last... choose the right install option so its next to win7..
:nono1: I wasted a few hours today, installed XP, then W7 then went mint, nice, however , It was pointed out to me that I forgot to partition the windows OS as Primaries and used logical instead, therefore Mint could'nt pick them up.... will try again....
For what I have seen of mint.....beautiful...... best Linux distro so far...
Testing Linuxmint Debian... LMDE.. here.
Not as user friendly as LM10.
LM10 busy installing as we type....
I have allocated 20gigs to it....
Lets hope this time around it works....
Install the proprietary video driver and set it up if resolution not right.
All programs can be loaded through the software manger... click on menu.
You can expand the 20gig later if you want.
Don't forget to apply the updates, might take some time.
