Title: I got an offer to sell my domain!
Post by: Michael Alexander on January 25, 2011, 02:04:29 PM
I have owned the domain name www.buybiltong.com for the last three years, I had dreams, but other things happened......

Anyhow, I got an email recently from a chap in London asking me if I wanted to sell the name, Gee! This has'nt happened to me before. I don't use the domain name at the moment, turns out they own the domain names, www.buybiltong.net and www.buybiltong.co.uk and now want the .com also.........

I was gonna leave it, but then the chap phoned me in Oranjemund this afternoon, all the way from London, nice enough chap, offered me 400 Pounds for the name....

400 pounds = 4400 Rand,

I have spent 3900 Rand on the webspace and domain name for the last three years,
what should I do...? Sell it, ask for 700 Pounds? ..Keep it?

Anyone?

You should of accepted the 400 pounds and told him you'd need the price of a ticket for both yourself and your good wife to pop over and shake on the deal.............Next time wait for advise before you make any managerial decisions  ThatStinks2

You get free online services that give you an approximated value on domain names.... I was blown away at the value that was placed on a domain name like buybiltong.com  to buy a domai name first time around is cheap, you can pick them up for R50 these days, in my case I bought buybiltong for R250 and renewed it every year for R50...... keeping the webspace was the expensive part..... R99 per month...

@Stennie, I use the webspace for test forums and was planning a small forum for local based people with an interest in PC's , kinda like a local P2P private network...Everyone would have a Simpson character name....
