A Bit of sad news, Two of the Creedy Clan in South Africa had a flying accident this weekend near Douglas in the Northern Cape...Gareth and Allen Creedy, had a mishap with their gyrocopter and it went down, I include a posting from a link on the net:
"The Gyro went down yesterday afternoon (13:00). It took off from the Bucklands airstrip (+- 5 miles west of Douglas). My mom and dad where driving behind the gyro as it took off. They got airborne, but the gyro were battling to climb ( high nose attitude, without gaining any height). They started veering to the right and they hit the ground side ways. The gyro immediately burned, Allen got out fairly quickly, but his shirt was on fire. Gareth got stuck and burned really badly.
I phoned a docter and he told me that he is too busy at that moment to come, but he'll phone the ambulance. We are still waiting for that ambulance. Then a nother docter came, but he had nothing to treat them with and just stood there. There was a Oryx millitary helicopter in the area. We got hold of them to see if they could help us to get Gareth and Allen to Kimberley. They told us that they need clearance and it would take too long. The next moment that helicopter was circling above us, loaded with a bunch of spectators, I just wonder if they got clearance to do that! Finally a proper docter arrived, he help us to load them in our car to take them to the hospital.
Gareth and Allen are in the Kimberly hospital, in a critical but stable condition."
So, please give thoughts and support to the family during this tough times...

Hi All
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I am co-incidently down in Florida with brother Mike for 3 weeks. I cannot give any specifics and can tell you that they are still in intensive care in the burn unit in Kimberly and still in the critical stage. The helicopter story is true. Gareth who was more badly burnt spent his whole life in the air force and I will say no more.
Allen was thrown clear of the crash and went back with his clothes on his back on fire to help his brother out of the seat belt and sustained further burns in so doing. His actions rank in the hero area. The military have visited Gareth in hospital since he is still on their medical system.
Allens wife is a nurse and she is in Kimberly with other family members on Gareths side so the medical info we get is good. It appears that the next 72 hours will give an idea of expectations for the future. Both are on max morphine and in a lot of pain. Both have communicated and are taking liquids. Gareth has had some physio on his fingers. We are maintaining a positive attitude and in daily touch.
Prayers are well received and thanks. I shall communicate again.
John and Mike
Hi John, Thanks for sharing with us on their condition and treatment. It is really so sad to read about tragedies like this. My thoughts and Prayers are with you all and I do Trust that God will Heal them and that they will recover very soon. God Bless.
Just had news that Titch (Gareth) is still in ICU with 41% burns. Critical but stable. He is being sedated as he has to go to theatre every 3/4 days. Will be in ICU for another 4weeks.I thought they said he had been transfered to a hospital in Cape Town not sure on that.
After many many years Titch and I had made contact and have been chatting regularly untill this unfortunate accident. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Strange...small world ...I was friends with both him and Allen back in the day and NOW after all this time discover that he knows my husband Stephens family very well. They went to school to-gether in Simonstown....well Stephen is a tad older but his younger brother and sister did and a friend of mine was his girlfriend at some point.
Any feedback from John?
Just had a facebook update that Gareth is home after 8 months is hospital.
Good to hear that Tony, thanks....
Hi
I have been out of circuit for a while... Mike my twin is in Douglas helping Alan with his business. Been there for 9 months now and Alan is also back in Douglas. Gareth (Titch) is maiking remarkable recovery and is a changed man in many respects. He is very positive and grateful for survival.
My Dad passed away quite recently in October. Lei and I are going to SA for the month of January.
