Guess those pioneering types back in 1936, never expected the diamonds to still be here 75 years later. This year Oranjemund turns 75 years old.

Sad to think after all the Billions of dollars worth of diamonds mined here, that the DeBeers group, Anglo or the Oppenheimer clan could'nt even think about "sponsoring" some "big" event in the town for such an astute occasion ........

I know that there is a diamond festival being launched in Omund over March, but that is being organised by the NCCI. Believe the company is sponsoring a paltry 10 000 bucks to the event....
