Title: Gabbi Van Staden!
Post by: Michael Alexander on March 01, 2011, 05:14:47 AM
We heard sirens last night, cars driving up and down, just read on Facebook, that the daughter of longtime and still resident Oranjemunder, Coreen was killed in a car crash in Oranjemund last night....

I always had the pleasure of teasing Coreen, whilst she sat in the car outside Spar, whilst Gabbi was in the store shopping for her. We often discussed the benefits of living in Oranjemund....

Coreen, We are really, really sorry for your loss...... there are no words that we can say to you to make this any better....

We'll see you later....

Like every one that posts here my condolence's to the Staden family. I suppose the time I was there in Oranjemund  I could never have imagined there being that amount of traffic in the township. I don't remember even one accident on the roads in my time there, its a shock that sleepy old Oranjemund can have motor vehicle fatality's.............its very very sad news.

A well attended ceremony, I reckon there must have been about 350 people there....

What got me the most, was the way the entire Oranjemund community comes together at times like this..... irrespective of their cultural differences..... the school choir was amazing with a heart wrenching rendition of "Raise me Up!"

In times like this, the Oranjemund community still support each other.....

Was as busy as hell at work today but took some quiet time out at 15: 30 to just think and send my minds  best wishes ... My Moms  words came to me , she  as time went on became more aware of mortality  and could not  even go to the  funeral of anyones  younger ones ,, she would tell em the news and please ask me to  represent her  as  she could not handle how the " natural order " was thrown  out of kilter  in her opinion  .. Her  words  were .. " us older  are supposed to go before the young , god help my soul  if i was to lose anyone of you "
Strength to Coreen and family ...

Ah Mike, just shed a tear again.  Just the way Oranjemund stands by each other and like you said no matter what culture you are.  Wish we could have also been there, I know the choir must have been amazing!
