Here is a disturbing rumour I heard today, sources are claiming that the Library is about to be closed. Can this really be? I know that OTMCO was managing the place, but with their recent "takeover" by the ALLIED SERVICES (or whatever name they go by these days), they may be a bit of a liability to the core business of the mine....
However if it is the case and the rumours prove to be true, I doth protest.....
Why not approach a few of the pensioners in town to see if they want to try and run the place ? Two ladies spring to mind. The mine would not have to pay a salary to them, I am sure there would be a "way" we could generate them a small income.
The mine is still giving away dosh to the other "social" responsibilities in Namibia, once again, start at home.....
The library is an important part of the town's future, and is major "selling" point for a future retirement town...... I therefore implore to powers that be, to rethink this avenue they wish to pursue ...... there has to be another way.... too many years of hard work have been spend on the library.....
