I said this two years ago and now I am going to repeat this....
Why has an election not been held in Oranjemund to allow the current residents of Oranjemund to vote on weather they want proclamation or not.
I had a worker in my office this morning complaining bitterly that they do not want proclamation to happen.
There was a meeting with the mine manager yesterday on the Orange River mines, where concerns were raised about the road being proclaimed. The workers are scared that they will become targets for AK47 toting criminals.... they explained that they were concerned about the stockpiles of gravel next to the road being stolen... they explained that they were not happy that their houses in town would become targets for criminals , who knew that they were on the mine.... they do not want proclamation to happen, as the GM explained to them, proclamation is not being driven by the mine, but rather by the Government and a few local politicians...
Wonder what the result would have been if a vote was to be held?
Wonder what the residents are going to think when prices go up, once we all have to start to pay rates and taxes,..
One lady was upset, that she felt that her child would no longer be safe to walk home from school anymore.....
Somebody better do something soon..... otherwise there is going to be a problem.....
