Don't you find it weird when you buy a snack or cracker or sweets and on the wrapping there is no indication what so ever of who the manufacturer is or any address or phone numbers. Referring to some bulk stuff you buy from the Chinese stores i.e. small chocolates, lollies etc. My friend buys these big packs of chocolates from the local China store - 2 blocks wrapped in cellophane - about 50 in a see through plastic bag (R15-00 or something close). Let's not talk about the quality - yucky, but besides that, it makes me wonder if it is legit and if it has been cleared for sale to the publick. It is obvious that it is not home made and produced in mass somewhere, but it does not even indicate where it comes from.
Have you had the same experience with other products?
Yes Dalene, I've seen it as well. I stay away from those products - you dont know what you're getting - like the cat food with antifreeze? I made a habit of reading labels when I buy food - could be quite irritating though - if you know what "aliases" the people use to hide dangerous chemicals.
My latest peeve - the words "no added MSG's" - that usually means: "there's so much MSG in all the other ingredients in our bottle, that we dont need to add any more"!
Also Dalene, I've seen the same on a treated artist's painting canvas which I bought. It's something I want to paint and send overseas - but because it is quite big, I'll need to roll the canvas up to post it. I wanted to know if their canvas would handle the rolling up procedure - but alas! They dont seem to have a telephone number!!! There's a business address (Claremont in the Cape) of the company, but no tel.no., not even the inquiries line has a number for the company... strange... could this also be a case of mass production somewhere else and simply distributed here by this company?
So, I am not the only paranoid freak out there in regards to 'funny contents' - glad to hear that, Bertie. I like to know what is actually in the product that I buy. I read the label and check out the manufacturer - way too many bogus stuff on the shelves with fake info.
Main reason why I do not like take aways or any burger - I seriously don't know if the patty contains donkey, roadkill or crock and that's very very scary!
You should'nt buy products that don't tell you their ingredients..... especially those funny ones outta China....

I know ... their ingredients may include stuff like baboon brain, snake skin, lizzard tail (and that's the more acceptable parts) .......
Always read the label if it ain't got one don't buy,............. the trouble is when you go to the markets scorpions on skewers Mm? think not.............. image04

Yep, that's why I don't eat KFC or Nando's or Chicken Licken stuff. Nor do I eat their fries. As a rule I do not eat bread or any product that contains gluten (I hear the murmers of 'you are full of s*&T' - don't worry, I hear them every day from the wolfclan in my house as well), so I don't see why I have to pay for a roll or bun or brotchen if I am only going to chuck it and I fear the content of that stuff ...
Nope, I survive very well on plain old meat, veggies, rice, taters and fruit - got enough meat on me bones and am healthy as can be.
Indeed so this girl Dalene has got bigger arm muscles than me ... I remain in shame ... cat1.gif
