Title: The Sea Wall Came Down!
Post by: Michael Alexander on July 03, 2011, 09:58:55 AM
A bit late with this seeing that I was out of town. With the high tides and winter weather, the sea wall broke on the mine last week, still busy repairing it as we type..... Spar has been asked to stay open till 19h00 next week to allow those late workers to go shopping.....

Hearing rumours that heads are gonna roll over this one....

:nono1:   Not my head -  I did not build that wall !!!

(The garden wall that I tried to build a year or six back did not even withstand a breeze  -  came crashing down in one and only the foundation stood. Studpid cement .......)

Ok, I found this flash drive on my desk this morning with these snaps on them, whoever sent me the drive thanks, you can pick it up at parcel counter later today.

Whoever owns these snaps and is seeking acknowledgement, let me know, or if you want them removed etc,let me know.....

As you all have heard now, the mine lost a seawall last week, one has to admire the manner in which the entire workforce has gathered to repair the wall and push the cold atlantic back again....

I remember back in the day, there used to be those Geho (sp) pumps along the walls...

That wall has a long way to go before it is repaired.

Anyone know why the crosswalls were'nt maintained?

The seawall is finally closed!  Here are a couple of photos taken this morning.  As the photos show there is a lot of flooding still to be sorted out but I'm sure its a great relief to everybody who has been working overtime to get it done.

You must go fishing in that lake before they pump all the water out and make mince of the fish !!

The sea water has been breached again.
Big hole just south of 50G.
Its going to be a big battle to close it with more bad weather heading our way.        cat1.gif
