Heard this morning that two individual, were apparently under the influence and had taken apon themselves to go bundu bashing deep in those big eastern dunes .... from what I can gather, they appear to have rolled their vehicle , a helicopter had to be called in to perform a medivac , Chatter on the floor appears that one of them is in a serious condition......
There was a crash in the dunes this morning. We were called to uplift one person who had serious injuries and take him to hospital. There was another guy hurt but his injuries weren't as serious.

I heard a bit more on this tale this morning...
These two chaps are very lucky, it seems that whilst they were out in the dunes enjoying their early morning dune ride, they realised that they were going to run out of fuel, so from a high point they called their mate who was back in the town, to bring them some extra fuel, it was shortly after this that the vehicle rolled.... one occupant trapped the other out cold..... it was their fuel mate that found them , dragged them to safety in case there was an explosion and then headed for town to summon help.....
I heard of a term called "Duin Blind " today..... seems the guys who often drive Dune sand , like the guys that go up to Meob, experience this..... where after driving in the sand for awhile.... the drive can no longer distinguish a horizon level, everything looks the same...... One chap going to meob, actually drove smack bang into a sandune.... did'nt see it, as it resembled the surroundings...
Anyhow, back to our chaps from Saturday morning, seem's the driver was doing sand donuts in the sand, when he drove off the edge of a lip.... the engine of the vehicle is quite heavy and the car started to flip head over heels.......
Seem's the chaps were in a way, extremely lucky to have called for fuel then.....

Heard one of the injured... Charles Botha was flown to Cape Town yesterday.
Has some damage to his spine but is able to walk... hope he gets better soon.
Janet Carr who works at the Panarama I think says he is in high care there...
The town looks nice from far but is far from nice.... the weeds and desert are slowly but surely taking the town back... image14
