Title: GM to depart in December?
Post by: Michael Alexander on November 07, 2011, 06:29:19 PM
Chatter is assuming that the GM will be packing his bags December and departing our shores...

Interviews have been held for locals to take his spot..... I did not apply this year, as the breadslicer at SPar was not working....

Anglo American now own DeBeers, so I was wondering how long it would be, before Anglo put's it's own man (woman, sorry Cynthia) , who will be a real foreigner..... but then I reckon Anglo has more clout with work permits than DeBeers had......

Just my 2 cents....

DeBeers still stays..... half Namibian Gov, the other half DeBeers, only difference is that Anglo will now own DeBeers and not half of it with the Oppenheimer Family......

Yes, according to Nicky's letter his grandfather Sir Ernest was a co founder of Anglo too.

@Mike, I think he leaves us in Feb next year...

Only the Oppenheimers share was sold to Anglo (according to the briefs we recieve), exact % of shareholding unknown...

How can you say the next boss will be a foreigner... didn't you know that the MUN want Tony to be the next GM... remember southern Africa is a democracy and you can decide who you want to manage your employer company.

The Oppenheimers sold their 40% stake in De Beers representing a decent $5b.
