When I was growing up in Oranjemund I had a great friend called Alex Primus not sure if any of you remember his folks Gabi and Gerhard? Well anyway when I was 6 or 7 they left Oranjemund and moved back to Vienna. Last Friday I got a message from them saying they were in Cape Town and wanted to meet up for dinner.
20 years later we met up again and it was great talking about all the old memories in Oranjemund before there was immigration, cell phones and Woolworths!
Anyway Gerhard was and still is a keen film maker and has plenty of old snaps and video footage from around the late 80`s and early 90`s one in particular I think was filmed by a couple of CDM employees to showcase the company to prospective employees. He has promised to upload them online and either he or I will link them to this site.
It still amazes me how you can go anywhere in the world bump into old Oranjemunders and you basically carry on like you had seen each other every day for the last 20 years.
Jeremy, squeeze the dude to upload, I want to see that stuff.....
