I heard this in the week,
An informal meeting was held between a group of Namdeb employees who are going to be steering the house selling program....
The discussion was informal, but what was disturbing, if indeed true, was the fact that houses would be offered first to NAMDEB employees , but not just their current house they reside in, but any of the available houses, including the ones that are currently being rented by private folk....
If this is indeed going to be the case, it would be unfair on (1) Those of us that are long time resident of Oranjemund (2) Offer services to the mine (3) Added value to our current homes...
Imagine some guy that works for the company just walks in to your house goes to the company and makes an offer..... that is just not ethical......
Let's hope that this is not the case....
I agree this would not be fair at all. Longterm OMD residents should have first option as to which house they would like to buy, preferably their own.

Mike, don't worry I will buy your house and rent it to you before somebody else buys it and kicks you out
It was pointed out to me last night, that the way it was explained to the lower ranks, was to buy your OWN house if you wanted to, seem;s like the mine realises that it might be worth their while to keep generating income from the private folk....
