I see overalls and hard hats were scarce those days.........
bravo This is indeed incredible historical pics. How sure are you about the date though? 1930 or 36/37?
What is the Bergbau?
Amazing how the Power station looked like in the beginning....
Did not date them they where saved like that
I don't speak German maybe Goerge can help
I got lots Swakopmund 1911
Thanks Toy
Bergbau .... means.... Mining. drinking-41
Absolutly amazing. Pic 0369 says it all. Look at these hardy types. I wonder who these guys were and if in fact some of them remained in OMD and started families. Maybe some of the 'elderly' OMD'rs can put names to these men.

Good point here Leon, not a single one of these chaps are "smiling" for the Camera, must have been a hard life back then...
Also they are kitted out for winter and I like the "Chicago: fashion.....

We got an answer about "Bergbau = Mining" already and "1930er" means it is sowhere in the 1930ies so it could be anytime between 1930 and 1939!
Hope this helps a bit! Nevertheless EXCELLENT PICS!!!!!!
I heard a whisper this afternoon that there are more pics on the way.....
woo_hoo
@ Alfred...great photo's you've posted here.....The coats the men are wearing look much the same as the one I have here that belonged to our Oupa Paul. He wore it back in 1928/30 when he was in Elizabethbay. I did wonder why on earth he would wear such a heavy coat in that climate.... now I guess he wasn't the only one :-) I posted a pic of it under ...."Photographs".... Attention Henniek.
