Title: Experience and the price placed apon it.....
Post by: Michael Alexander on February 11, 2012, 07:16:02 AM
Was sad to hear of a good friend of mine tendering his resignation last week.....

The fellow would often pop around to my house for a toot or two , lamenting about how he felt let down by the mine he so faithfully served for the last 23 years..... when the recession hit and folk left, his workload was multiplied, he carried on doing these additional duties for three years without compensation or recognition ..... Eventually he had enough and was immediately snapped up by another Namibian mine..... The folk on this side tried a quick remedy by offering a "snap" promotion, but alas, it was too late..... My friend is packing his bags and leaving.... he was one of those few "old" Oranjemunders that still lived here, his father also once having worked for the mine....  a long family history with our town....

Sad thing is, he takes his qualified "life" partner with him, who will also be a big loss to us and above all, with the type of work he did, with the experience gained in working out on the field, the mine will not find it easier just to "replace" him..... pity somebody did'nt listen to him 2 years ago.....

Just my 2 cents and fare thee well my friend....

It is really a sad thing and to loose a rock hound even sadder
