FAREWELL: MITFORD MUNDELL – FORMER NAMDEB GM

A farewell function for Mitford will be held on, Friday the 24th of February 2012.

      Picture (Device Independent Bitmap)

Mitford Mundell joined Namdeb as General Manager in July 2008. He was appointed on a three-year contract which came to an end in 2011. At the time when he joined, the then ailing Namdeb land business, forecasted closure in 2011 and as such he was faced with the challenge of leading the transformation process that would extend the life of mine.  In the short time that Mitford has been with Namdeb, he has not only been able to steer Namdeb through the difficult recession in 2009 but he also created a new long-term vision of the future (Namdeb's Project 2050). In addition to this, Namdeb now has a clear medium-term plan to 2020 which will allow the business to continue to be an icon of the Namibian economy.

Mitford joined the De Beers Group Global Mining team as Group Lead - Business Improvement, under the leadership of Rob Smart with effect from 1 February 2012.  In his new role, he is responsible for facilitating improvement initiatives and knowledge-sharing between the De Beers business units, focusing on holistic business improvement and asset optimisation.

We thank Mitford for his invaluable contribution to Namdeb and wish him all the best for the future.

Those who wish to attend should contribute a minimum of N$75 per person towards the function.  Please note that the contributions will be used to arrange the farewell and the bar will be cash bar. The venue and time will be communicated in due course.

Please forward the following information to francis.milomo@namdeb.com <mailto:francis.milomo@namdeb.com>  or fax to 063 239244, latest on Tuesday, 21 February 2012.
