If Google had a black screen - taking in account the huge number of page views and according to calculations - 750 mega watts/hour per year would be saved.
In response, Google created a black version of its search engine, called Blackle,
with the exact same functions as the white version, but obviously with lower energy
consumption:
Help spread the word... use: http://www.blackle.com/ (http://www.blackle.com/)
you can blackify any page you are looking at.
I downloaded a tag onto my menu bar called blackify and I just hit it.
I am typing on a black screen now, and the rest of the site writting is yellow, it's quite cool.
AND there is also a enlargify button for people like me who can't accept that they should keep their reading glasses at hand
and haven't graduated to varifocals yet, yeh gawd...........
mmmmmh! that sounds like something for the new south africa! ;)
