A mechanic is recovering in a Sharjah hospital after his friend inserted a high-pressure air hose into his bottom and blew him up like a balloon.
Mushrif Hussain, 25, told 7DAYS from Al Qassimi Hospital that they were servicing a client's vehicle in Sharjah's industrial area when his pal decided to play a prank on him.
"He got hold of the air hose we use to blow air from the engine and placed it on my backside," said Hussain as he demonstrated what had happened to him.
A high pressure hose was used in the prank which caused the victim great pain.
"He thought it was funny. I don't think he meant to cause any harm."
Sharjah Police have arrested the prankster and a police source said that he would be charged for inflicting actual bodily harm that could have resulted in death.
A medic attending to Hussain described how he was brought to Al Qassimi Hospital in critical condition, with an inflated stomach and screaming in pain. It took several hours for him to deflate.
"He is now in a stable condition and will be discharged in a day or two," the medic said. "It could have been fatal since he couldn't breathe properly when he arrived here."
He said the mechanic's internal organs could easily have been permanently damaged.
