A big holdback as metioned in the newspaper article is the correct preservation and preparation of some of the artefacts for open display. It was explained to me that the timber especially that has been soaked in sea water for the past 500 years can take between 10 and 20 years to be prepared for presentation. The salt water has to be carefully leached from the timber using cycled fresh water to prevent it from dissintergration.
Would be sad if all the bits fell apart, after all the hype.
I'm sure I'm sure....... half of us will be dead be then drinking-41
That's the irony... we find it now, knowing the story about it all... our children and grandchildren get to see what we were going on about but we are no longer present to explain or answer their questions...
Same thing I was thinkung about recently... ask anyone around what Club nitecall was before it became a night club and and more than 60% will respond... Huhhh... it was something else? Obviously they didn't know that Oranjemund once had a cinema.
So true Andrew....." Nitecall " Huh ...Whats that............. That building was always a "Bioscope".......there is a vast difference between the town opening (or there about) and now........no-body can relate to that unless you have lived it. Same could be said about this.. I guess. Such is life. allgood
So true Diane, some people in this town can only think ,drink, sniff and sell booze, they can think of nothing else.... thats all life is to them..
