Secret of the missing millions
Google the above and find out what happened to the millions stolen from Westpac bank in New Zealand three years ago.
"But the 32-year-old steadfastly refused to say what has happened to $3.8 million that has never been recovered. "All I can say is I'm not in a position to pay the reparations."
If that money were to sit in a term account at 3 per cent for Gao's entire term of four years and seven months, it would earn an extra $540,000 by the time he is released in early 2017."
The Banks fault in the first place.... somebody at the bank should be in court for tempting the man, and I guess that I would take the above terms , sit in jail for four years and come out a millionaire, better odds than in the real world.....
Just my thoughts....

But a millionaire who can't travel. No convicted felon is allowed to cross international borders. A very restricted life and forever in the gun by police and the Inland Revenue Service for signs of affluent spending. If they don't nail him today they'll do it tomorrow or whenever, then its back to chookie on a fresh charge. Not very bright thinking but then anyone who does such a spur of the moment cut and run probably doesn't know enough to come in out of the rain.
Present company excepted of course. I'm pretty sure Michael would have a Plan B for laundering the dosh into various accounts in various countries plus a better story for the judge than simply: "I'm not in a position to pay."
