Title: Boerewors at the Yacht club
Post by: georg ruf jr. on November 13, 2007, 08:27:39 PM
Trying to rais funds for the scouts.  rembeber spending many sundays in a pondock on the parking place at the yachtclub braaiing boerwors with the van greunens. The late Iggy, and sometimes his wife PatMark and I would be quite boared because no-one was realy interested. Mostely we "had" to eat the wors ourselves. I'm sure that's where I got my big belly from. hihi
Does anybody remember buying a wors from. If you do, thanks for the help of fund raising!
Georg

Yacht club is still there, although I don't know how many members are still active down there, I do know that somebody lives down there now and looks after the lawns and stuff....looks quite nice actually.....

Thanks Michael.
Somehow the yachting-club facinated me in those days, even though I had nothing to do with it.
By the way, will Mrs. Coffin be reading our greatings?

I do not know, her daughter asked me to put something up, I'll email her to see if she will take the greetings to her mom...

Hey, I remember standing and making boerewors rolls until theu came out of my ears!!  The wind always blew a gale and by the end of the day I was convinced that if i never saw another "hotdog" it would not be too soon!! Did we ever make money that was worth talking about?

Used to love going to the yaught club, especiall when my mom and dad did the Bar ( Anna and Larry).
We used to get up to all sorts and come back when we were hungry,  Mom always had a ready supply of foodand if we collected the glasses from outside and washed them we would get a packet of crips and a tin of coke.  Sold to the slave traid and we didn#'t even realise..........Then home at the end of the day - Sunburnt and in the bath to try and get the sand out of our hair,, NIGHTMARE

Don't forget the salt on your skin after swimming. I remember the lagoons near the river mouth smelling. And yet we couldn't let off from swimming.
