Title: Sperrgebiet to be renamed?
Post by: Malcolm Bertoni on November 25, 2012, 01:33:07 PM
Noticed this on the AllAfrica site (www.allafrica.com (http://www.allafrica.com)).

Apparently there's a move to rename the Sperrgebiet National Park to the "Tsau //Khaeb (Sperrgebiet) National Park".

The article is a few months old now, so dont know where its going.
The link: http://allafrica.com/stories/201208260213.html (http://allafrica.com/stories/201208260213.html)

Anyone know anything about this?

I heard this a few months back, seem's that the powers that be are all arguing amongst themselves.... on another related matter, a group of Germans where in the SPerrgebiet a few days back.... by invitation of the MET (Ministry of Environment and tourism), they are assisting on locations to establish spots for concessions for tourists..... met with local community leaders on Sat morning.....

As for the renaming, what will it matter 500 years from now... more important things to worry about besides name changing to appease current politicians.....   :ciupa1:

The official renaming has been enacted although, I suspect, it'll be a name that changes on paper and probably nowhere else - which is often the nature of these things.

This sounds like the same bright bunch that want to rename the Caprivi despite the shortage of development and infrastructure in that region... put the millions it costs to change signage and admin to better use by developing the necessary infrastructure and revenue generating industries in these areas.

I sometimes wonder how these intelligences get to the seats they occupy where such dunce proposals are even put on the table for discussion.

A lot of countries in Africa claim to have democracy.... however nothing can be further from the truth.... yes, one (wo)man one vote does apply..... but it does not help when the majority of the voters do not understand the power of their right to vote.... the majority are not educated and will continue to vote along the lines they are told to vote for .... then when the politicians in these countries get into power, they make sure that the masses stay uneducated and in their place.... can you imagine how the vote would change if every person in a country had a 1st world education, thus freeing them of the true shackles of ignorance and not slavery..... they would be able to understand how they are being herded like sheep toward the voting booth...

If I was president of a country, I would not be giving ministerial positions to loyal cadres in the party, overweight old men in flashy suites with even flashier cars living in mansions, building extravagant buildings and worthless memorials whilst the uneducated masses eat of the refuse heaps in the capital.... I would be appointing the proper educated person to the position, irrespective of race, creed or colour, that would make things work.... that would uplift the entire nation, and if that person could not perform his or her duty, I would not just reshuffle the cabinet so that they could ply their damaging trade in another ministry..... I WOULD FIRE THEM..... perform or you are out.....

It's a sham , that in Namibia, 22 years after independence , we still have masses of unemployed and uneducated starving people on our streets... yet, the masters who are in fact servants of the public, live the lifestyle of a king.... SHame! Shame! Shame..... we only have 2.2 million folk.... we could have made it work.......... You could have made it work...

I always doubt the true sincerity of any person taking a position in the public service, wether it be a local council or a minister of a country..... because such a person should be acting with a sense of humility , devoting their live to the service.... YES! The SERVICE of their fellow citizens, not placing themselves above, but below the nation...... in the same  way that one would be doing if one would be joining the priesthood/clergy.....

Just my 2 cents.....

fact . The fat cats get all the financial benefits , huge salaries, cars , mansions , benefits for the extended families  etc from the tax payers cotribution
. But irony is that the taxpayers did not vote for them , yet the taxpayer pays for everything
